Last Week I Killed My Workout! This week I sucked…what gives?!

Have you ever noticed that when you’re thinking about buying a new car, you begin seeing that particular car everywhere?

I always think, “How have I been so blind”? … You too?!

This is a phenomenon known as Frequency Illusion. When something has been brought to your attention, there is a tendency to notice it more often, leading you to believe that it exists in higher frequency.

In reality, the frequency hasn’t changed, you just weren’t noticing it because your attention wasn’t being drawn to it.

 

YOU’RE PROBABLY WONDERING, “PAIGE, WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH PILATES”?

But the truth is, they’re connected.

Getting to the root of my question required that I think beyond the physical.

Sure enough, I discovered that my emotions + thoughts were having just as much impact on my workout as my physicality.

When I killed my workout :

  • I held a powerful intention that focused my mind on my workout

  • Physically I felt capable + energized

  • Emotionally I felt confident to rise to the occasion + committed to my goals

Conversely, when my workout sucked :

  • My mind was lost in thought + I was distracted

  • Physically I felt overwhelmed + tired

  • Emotionally I felt my goals were insurmountable due to my body’s ailments

This contrast made me realize how “In alignment” I actually was, albeit positive or negative.

ENERGY FLOWS WHERE FOCUS GOES

My energy was flowing in one of two ways. My attention to that chosen path made the corresponding frequency appear in my reality…and it felt very powerful.

In truth, neither frequency was more prevalent + powerful than the other, it was simply that I kept the current state alive with my energy + attention.

When we consistently place our attention + energy on what we want, we have the power to create our most desired outcomes!

3 Tips to stay in the flow and kill your next workout :

  • Spend 5 minutes before class in silence. Focus your mind on your intention

  • Stand taller + smile…you’ll naturally feel more confident + capable

  • Fear + love cannot co-exist. Discover your favorite mantra and repeat it to yourself throughout your workout
